The color wheel is very important for Artist when creating a work of art for selecting colours or mixing colors, just as it is important for viewers of art to know about the colors and the way they work together to understand the paintings that the artist created.
Colour also has a temperature (its not like a sick person has a fever lol). Some colors appear warmer and some appear cooler.
You can see it alone or you can see the combination of them in a drawing. like if your drawing a sunny day sunrise and sunset you use more warm colours. To draw mountain, ocean, etc you use more cool colors.
Artist may want to choose either warm colours or cool colors for their painting to give a specific feeling or to create a certain emotion.
A basic understanding of the colour wheel is just a tool to get you started. So next time you start a painting, think about what colors will work best with your subject matter.
I hope this will helpful you to understand much better. Keep being the wonderful creative person that you are 😻 . I am so happy to know that I can share it with you 😊
